We've been saddened by the devastating fire across Langdale Moor and the North York Moors National Park, which has now spread over an area of 10 square miles between Scarborough and Whitby since it began on 11th August.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service has been joined by fire crews from across the country, including Greater Manchester, the London Fire Brigade, and Cumbria. Local farmers have also stepped in wherever possible to assist their efforts.

The situation is complicated by the highly combustible nature of the peaty moorland. In addition, part of the site was a tank training ground in the 1940s, which caused more than 18 explosions as of 27th August, as the fire burned down to previously hidden explosives.

We're grateful to have been able to contribute by donating approximately 4,500 litres of fuel to help power the tractors and vehicles tackling the fire. An extra thanks to B M Fenby Haulage, Bryan Fenby, and Chris Ford for providing the transportation and leading the local efforts to fight the blaze.

Our thoughts are with the firefighters, farmers, and local community who are relentlessly on the front line to bring the blaze under control.
