Load Bank Testing

We can carry out load bank tests of your power systems. They are an effective way of testing whether your generator or uninterruptible power supply is working as it should and can identify any areas requiring preventative maintenance.

The benefits

The use of a load bank at the commissioning stage helps to prove the integrity of the system. It also forms part of planned preventative maintenance visits for UPS systems, battery systems and generator sets.

In the event of a mains failure you need the confidence your backup power will perform when you need it. To avoid potential business-damaging, premature product failure, periodic load bank testing at 100% load is recommended to ensure complete system reliability.

Onsite load bank testing

We’ll check:

  • Rated load output performance

  • Generator cooling and radiator performance

  • Room airflow and cooling

  • Fuel delivery system and refilling

  • Electrical system operation

  • Generator controller monitoring

  • Engine condition monitoring

  • Powering monitoring, metering and gauges

  • Remedial work issues

How is a load bank test used

Providing a practical means of testing, a load bank is used to simulate the full electrical demands that the equipment has been designed to accept, helping to prove system integrity.

Common uses for load bank testing are:

  • Testing and commissioning of emergency standby generator sets and UPS systems

  • Battery autonomy testing

  • Generator load acceptance and integrity of cooling systems, engine performance and safety shutdown operation

  • Carbon deposit cleaning within generator sets as a result of no load or low load testing

  • Load rejection testing
