Dale Power Solutions has championed apprenticeship since our inception. Many of our apprentices build long-term careers with us, growing alongside the business and helping to shape our future. We’re proud to spotlight three members of our team at different stages of their journey: Kyle, a current apprentice; Hannah, who has recently completed her degree apprenticeship; and Paul, a former apprentice whose career has spanned nearly 35 years at Dale Power Solutions.

Kyle Brook – IT Apprentice

Kyle Brook joined Dale Power Solutions in 2024 as an IT apprentice after completing his A-Levels at Scarborough Sixth Form. Since joining the business, he has recently completed his Level 3 Data Technician qualification and is keen to continue developing his skills through further apprenticeship study, with long-term ambitions to progress to a Level 6 (degree-equivalent) qualification.

Kyle’s apprenticeship training is delivered through online provider Estio Training, enabling him to access the right programme for his role when an equivalent in-person option was not available locally.

Choosing an apprenticeship over a university route, Kyle values the practical skills developed through IT tasks and challenges within a business environment. He has enjoyed expanding his knowledge beyond his A-Level studies, particularly through exposure to day-to-day IT operations and problem-solving within the organisation.

Kyle sees his apprenticeship at Dale Power Solutions as an important step in shaping his future career. The combination of structured learning and practical experience has helped him build confidence in his abilities and scope out the areas he may wish to specialise in as he continues his professional development.

Hannah Magowan – Lead Engineer for Energy Storage & Renewables

Hannah Magowan, our Lead Engineer for Battery Storage & Renewables, joined Dale Power Solutions at 16, straight out of school, without a fixed idea of what she wanted to do.

Strong in maths, science and computer science, but also practical and creative, Sixth Form College didn’t feel like the right fit. An apprenticeship gave her the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across wiring, testing, electronics and software development.

Ten years on, Hannah is now Lead Battery Storage Engineer, working on battery energy storage projects for customers across multiple sectors, with other product systems still running on code she originally wrote. Hannah completed her apprenticeship to degree level, graduating in 2025.

Watch Hannah speaking about her apprenticeship in the video below:

Paul Winship – Industrial UPS Sales Manager

Paul joined Erskine Systems in 1992 at the age of 16, beginning his career as a Technician Apprentice straight from school. In his first year, he attended Scarborough Technical College full-time on the EnTra training programme (formerly EITB), gaining hands-on experience across electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines. His apprenticeship developed a broad technical foundation, from sheet metal fabrication, welding, milling and turning, through to electronic and electrical design.

In 1999, Paul progressed into the role of Project Manager for telecommunications giant One2One, later rebranded as T-Mobile. This position provided valuable experience delivering large-scale projects within a telecommunications environment. He later moved into a Business Development role for Service, working closely with the Industrial Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) team on installation and commissioning projects. During this period, Paul also spent time in Singapore and Thailand, supporting project management, training and sales activities.

In 2006, Paul transitioned into the role of Sales Manager, focusing on rail & mobility, petrochemical, and oil & gas sectors. His remit later expanded to include general industrial sectors, turbo machinery, and international export customers.

Today, Paul is our Industrial UPS Sales & Applications Manager, leading an expanding team of sales and applications engineers responsible for developing tailored technical solutions across our Erskine Industrial UPS product range. In 2026, Paul will reach 34 years with the business after progressing from apprentice to Industrial UPS Sales & Applications Manager and developing decades of technical expertise and sector knowledge.
