A Fixed Frequency Response site in Brampton, Cumbria, had 15 generators providing essential power stability to the national grid by responding to fluctuations in demands on power.
This smart energy grid is a commercial operation. It is vitally important that the generators are up to date and able to respond within 30 seconds to any demands on power supply.
Updates to generator protection device settings were required to meet new technical requirements detailed in the Distribution Code. These changes had to be made to allow the site to continue supply through the DNO.
Updates were mandatory for all non-domestic generators with a capacity of between approximately 10 kW and 50 kW connected to the electricity network. Updates had to be made before September 2022.
The client applied for and received funding through the Accelerated Loss of Mains Change Programme (ALoMCP)
Dale Power Solutions’ engineers carried out all the changes required
The generators now meet all requirements of the Distribution Code
Replacing relays will reduce the risk of unnecessary tripping and potential grid failure for this site
Dale Power Solutions carry out site surveys and advise and supply the right relays and updates to ensure compliance with the required standard.
