Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

1.1 To detail Dale Power Solutions Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy.

2.1 Our Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy covers our workplace, health and safety, business risk, marketplace, the environment, our local community, and communications.

3.1 Introduction
Operating in a responsible and sustainable manner is important to Dale Power Solutions. Whilst we run our business in line with the expectations of our stakeholders, we also see corporate responsibility as a discipline that helps us to manage risks and maximise on the opportunities presented to us in a changing world.

We take our corporate responsibility seriously across the Company as an employer, manufacturer, investor and a consumer. We are committed to understanding, monitoring and managing our social, environmental and economic impact to enable us to contribute to society’s wider goal of sustainable development. We aim to demonstrate these responsibilities through our actions and within our corporate policies.

3.2 Workplace
Our ability to deliver world-class products is dependent on a talented, engaged workforce in all of the countries in which we operate. To this end, we are focused on making Dale Power Solutions a place where people feel supported, can develop their skills, and have a clear understanding of our business objectives. We are committed to ensuring that our entire business is conducted according to rigorous professional, ethical and legal standards. To support this, we have developed a Statement of Values and Business Ethics Code, which seeks to define what we stand for as an organisation, and to bring employees together under a clear common purpose.

Additionally we:
• Operate an equal opportunities policy for all present and potential future employees
• Offer our employees clear and fair terms of employment and provide resources to enable their continual development
• Maintain a clear and fair employee remuneration policy and maintain forums for employee consultation and business involvement.

3.3 Health and Safety
We shall provide, and strive to maintain, a clean, healthy and safe working environment providing a workplace where our employees feel safe is not only a legal obligation, but a fundamental factor in building their engagement with the company. Through management intervention, awareness campaigns and a culture that encourages employees to raise concerns about the workplace safety, we aim to reduce the frequency of accidents.

Our SHE Team promotes and develops cooperation between all employees to ensure health and safety management is embedded into management and business processes. This is supported by our Health & Safety Policy.

3.4 Business Risk
The Company is subject to a variety of risks which could have a negative impact on its performance and financial position. The Board is responsible for the Company’s system of internal control and risk management and for reviewing its effectiveness. The Board meets monthly and supports the adherence to the Business Risk Policy.

3.5 Marketplace

3.5.1 Customers
We are in business to deliver value to our customers. All that we do is geared to providing world class products and the best possible customer experience. We have a passion for excellence and we take pride in our ability to solve our customers’ problems, focusing on delivering innovative solutions in a timely manner. We aim for true customer satisfaction by understanding our clients’ needs and building partnerships. We will register and resolve customer complaints in accordance with our published standards of service.

Our contracts will clearly set out the agreed terms, conditions and the basis of our relationship. We will operate in a way that safeguard against unfair business practices.

Dale Power Solutions technologies support numerous applications for alternative energy.

We will work with our customers to develop these products to help to reduce environmental impact.

3.5.2 Supply Chain
We aim to work actively with our suppliers who commit to our values, especially in reference to fair employment and good environmental practice. We recognise the importance of the supply chain and we are committed to developing secure relationships based on mutual trust for mutual benefit.

3.6 Environment
We recognise the importance of understanding the impact of our activities on the environment and we are developing an Environmental Programme to demonstrate and benchmark our commitment. Our company is accredited to ISO 14001 and we are continually looking at ways to improve our efficiency across our sites. We promote energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, and reduction of potentially dangerous, volatile or environmentally damaging chemicals. We also have an ongoing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.

3.7 Local Community
We are committed to making a sustainable positive impact on the communities in which we operate. We aim to make a distinctive contribution to inequality and social development through the establishment of effective partnerships and programmes that make best use of the energies and skills of our employees. We support our employees in fundraising for charities and voluntary work, recognising both the benefit to the community and to the employees themselves.

Dale Power Solutions is committed to supporting the Yorkshire Coast Employability Charter, bringing schools and businesses together to provide opportunities for young people to gain an insight into work, the jobs available, and developing the skills and other qualities to increase their employability. As part of this strategy Dale will support the activities of it’s STEM Ambassadors in developing and promoting STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

3.7.1 Dale Power Solutions continually updates activities such as charities/raffles held throughout the year. This includes, for example apprenticeship events, work experience, P1 Power Boat Race and Dragon Boat Race. The organisation continues to support employees in fundraising for charities and voluntary work, recognising both the benefit to the community and to the employees.

There is also a Saint Catherine’s monthly prize draw at the beginning of each month. Events are recorded on a monthly basis for the management meeting with a view to reviewing the policy on an annual basis.

3.8 The Dale Power Solutions Apprenticeship Academy

3.8.1 Dale Power Solutions believes that maintaining and improving the longevity of our technical excellence can only be achieved by a successful apprenticeship programme. Dale is therefore committed to the annual recruitment and development of apprentices and graduates to meet the future needs of the business. In doing so Dale will work with our local community, schools and colleges to promote and encourage students to undertake an apprenticeship.

3.8.2 Dale Power Solutions is committed to supporting the aims and objectives of the 5% Club. This initiative is aimed to address the twin issues of youth unemployment, currently standing at nearly one million, and poor apprenticeship figures. Only one in ten young people join an apprentice scheme when they leave school, a figure that The 5% Club will aim to solve by providing more youth training opportunities.

By being a member of The 5% Club, Dale Power Solutions will publicly report progress on the 5% target in our Annual Report and Accounts.
Under the 5% Club Charter, Dale Power Solutions pledges to:
 Play a part in addressing youth employment and skills shortage issues.
 To maintain having a minimum 5% of our UK workforce enrolled on formalised apprentice, sponsored student and/or graduate development schemes.
 Report publicly every year on the above as a CSR metric in its Annual Report and Accounts or equivalent

Dale Power Solutions will be an ambassador of The 5% Club and encourage other businesses to participate in the campaign, urging more public and private companies to follow suit and aim to update on progress using various platforms, including social media, as the campaign progresses.

3.9 Communications
We communicate our activities externally through our website and internally through our Company newsletter and team briefings. This raises a sense of awareness in the company as well as acting as a prompt for staff to get involved in our programmes.
